“Lands’ End is a well known clothing retailer which operates from their 240,000 square foot, state of the art distribution centre in Rutland. The company has been in the industry since 1963 and has grown from their origins in Wisconsin, USA to supply most of Europe through their online network.

Quantum Construction worked on the multi million pound extension to their European distribution centre, delivering the project ahead of schedule whilst meeting the detailed environmental challenges imposed by the client.

Adam Osbourne, Facilities Manager for the Lands’ End Company says, “Quantum Construction has provided our company with a successful and efficient service on the extension of our facility. They are always ready and willing to help with any enquiry and we are extremely pleased with the service our company has received.”

The project consisted of construction of a 37,500 sq. ft. (3,500 sq. m) Distribution Warehouse and 3,750 sq. ft. (350 sq. m) of offices with external yard areas.

Constructed on the site of a former RAF airbase thorough investigation was required for unexploded ordnance, harmful gases and chemicals.

The steel framed warehouse was designed for occupation by a parcel delivery company and incorporated a great number of vehicular access doors for the size of building. 32 level access doors and 4 dock levellers were installed.

To offer a more ecologically friendly drainage solution a swale was incorporated into the design. As a failsafe measure for fuel spills a penstock valve was also installed to the end of the drainage system.

To allow the end user to start their operation at the earliest opportunity early access was granted to enable the fit out to commence whilst Quantum’s works were completed.
