“Lands’ End is a well known clothing retailer which operates from their 240,000 square foot, state of the art distribution centre in Rutland. The company has been in the industry since 1963 and has grown from their origins in Wisconsin, USA to supply most of Europe through their online network.

Quantum Construction worked on the multi million pound extension to their European distribution centre, delivering the project ahead of schedule whilst meeting the detailed environmental challenges imposed by the client.

The works consisted of structural repairs to an operational rail head distribution yard.

The yard had been suffering from progressive failure in various areas due to water migration underneath the concrete.

Due to restrictions the work was carried out to the worst affected areas in a phased plan which enabled the current tenants to continue their operations.

Further to an investigative CCTV survey, defective drain runs were identified and added to the remediation plan to reduce the water ingress and hence reduce the likelihood of further degradation.

The phasing of the works required a rapid hardening concrete to be used to enable point loads of around 130T to be withstood prior to further phases of works commencing
