Quantum Construction worked on the multi million pound extension to their European distribution centre, delivering the project ahead of schedule whilst meeting the detailed environmental challenges imposed by the client.

Adam Osbourne, Facilities Manager for the Lands’ End Company says, “Quantum Construction has provided our company with a successful and efficient service on the extension of our facility. The project comprised the sub-division of an existing warehouse to construct a circa 200,000 sq ft (18,580 sq m) Chilled Food Store.

Due to time constraints the design was not fully determined by the time construction works commenced and thereby a close working relationship was required by all parties to achieve client requirements within a very tight timeframe.

The extensive mechanical and electrical service installation was a key element of the construction along with the introduction of a new two storey office facility within the building.

A separate refrigeration package, of circa £1,500,000, was undertaken by Star Refrigeration and due to the fast track programme was required to include use of temporary chiller units to permit early access for client stock whilst the permanent chillers were being fabricated.

Again due to the client requirement to vacate its adjacent premises prior to completion of the full works Quantum Construction worked closely with the client team to achieve a partial handover at the appropriate juncture.
